The article outlines research in British Columbia that explored
the reasons for early season phosphorous deficiency in seedling
corn. It found that in soils with "moderate to high"
in phosphorous levels, phosphorous fertilizer applied at the time
of seeding can increase silage yields and hasten plant maturity.
